Fat bombs are all the rage in the Keto and Low Carb communities. There are many varieties to the recipe, some with chocolate, some with coconut oil and berries, others that are savory. When it comes to these chocolate treats I like to keep it simple and tasty. This is my favorite version. I love the added health benefits of the cacao powder and the grass fed gelatin.
Cacao Powder is not the same a cocoa powder. Cacao powder is in fact better than cocoa powder, as all of the antioxidants and nutrients are preserved. There are a plethora of health benefits to consuming cacao powder. Ranging from lowering appetite, increasing serotonin, aiding in pms, lowering blood pressure, and the list goes on! It is incredibly affordable and worth every penny over cocoa powder!
Gelatin contains collagen, which is often referred to as the fountain of youth, as it contains many vital amino acids. Collagen is essential to your skin, hair and nail health. Even more incredible than that, collagen can help aid in the healing of your gut, digestion and immune system.
These fat bombs are not only delicious, they are super healthy! This tasty treat comes in at 18 grams of fat and 3 grams of protein! You wont find that in a Hershey Bar, guaranteed!
Servings 10, serving size 1.5 ounces. Carbs 1.7
1/2 cup virgin coconut oil
4 tbs organic butter
1/2 cup almond butter
1 cup cacao powder
2 tbs great lakes gelatin
1 tbs liquid stevia
- In a microwave safe bowl, melt coconut oil, butter and almond butter. Microwave at 30 second increments, stirring well in between. This typically takes 1min and 30 seconds.
- Add cacao powder, gelatin and sweetener. You may need to adjust sweetener to your own taste, as each brand of stevia tastes slightly different.
- Pour in molds or into a vessel with a lipped edge, like a cake or pie pan.
- Freeze for at least one hour before attempting to unmold.
